Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Alresford The Sandwich Shop is a food retailer based at 51 West Street, Alresford, SO24 9AB. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website and by email.

If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at order@alresfordsandwichshop.uk or call 07861 700563.

2. What Information We Collect

This website is purely informational — we do not run online accounts, forms, or payment systems. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us directly:

Email correspondence: if you email us at order@alresfordsandwichshop.uk, we will receive your email address and the content of your message.

We do not run our own analytics, advertising, or tracking tools. However, this website uses two third-party services that may use cookies or log requests — see Section 6 below.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you send us solely to respond to your enquiry or process your order. We do not use it for marketing, share it with third parties, or add it to any mailing list.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we rely on the following lawful bases:

Legitimate interests — to respond to your messages and provide the service you have requested.
Contract — where your email relates to placing or fulfilling an order.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain email correspondence only for as long as is necessary to respond to your enquiry or fulfil your order, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of any follow-up. We do not keep personal information indefinitely.

6. Cookies & Third-Party Services

Google Maps

Our Find Us section embeds a Google Maps map. The map is not loaded until you give your consent — a banner appears when you first visit the site asking whether you accept or decline cookies. If you decline, a link is provided so you can open Google Maps directly without loading it on this page. If you accept, Google Maps will load and Google may set cookies from maps.google.com and related domains in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Google Fonts

This website loads typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser fetches a font file, Google's servers receive and log your IP address as a normal part of serving the file. Google states that it does not use this data to build profiles or serve advertising. For more detail, see policies.google.com/privacy.

Your Cookie Choices

When you first visit this website a banner gives you the choice to accept or decline cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage so you are not asked again on repeat visits. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website — this will reset the banner on your next visit.

No marketing or analytics cookies are used. The only third-party cookies that may be set are those placed by Google when you choose to load the map. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other advertising or tracking technology.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Ask us to correct inaccurate information
Ask us to delete your information (the "right to be forgotten")
Object to or restrict how we process your data
Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at order@alresfordsandwichshop.uk.

Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated date at the top.
